To reduce their imports in Pakistan, we have indigenously developed a Class II Biosafety Cabinet with all the raw materials and the fabrication process, completely using the local industry in Pakistan. This will further reduce the import bill as well as enhance the capability of our local industries to produce high quality finished products up to the international industrial standards. The industrial partner Pakengimed has reached Technology Readiness Level TRL7 with their BSC Class II prototype ready for the market. However, there were remaining challenges related to maintaining laminar flow in the work area and having improvement in manufacturing process of sheet metal to avoid leakage issues. To meet their demand, we have first tested the flow patterns using CFD analysis and then fabricated an experimental work bench to optimize the fluid flow.
