Research in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (RAIDS) at the Department of Computer Science, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Abbottabad, is a community of active researchers dedicated to advancing the frontiers of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Image Processing, and Machine Learning. The group leverages its interdisciplinary expertise to address key challenges across diverse real-world application domains.

With these goals in focus, RAIDS initially concentrates on—but is not limited to—the following research directions:

• Dimensionality Reduction

• Applied and Fundamental Research in Image Pattern Recognition, including statistical learning foundations

• Biometric Recognition, involving identification using physiological and behavioral characteristics (e.g., face, iris, fingerprint, palm print)

• Intelligent Video Processing and Understanding, enabling automated video interpretation and minimizing manual surveillance efforts

• Surveillance and Public Safety Analytics, including tracking, identification, and road-safety applications

• Object Categorization and Scene Analysis in Natural Images, such as building extraction, object recognition, camouflage breaking, and feature interpretation

• Medical Image Analysis
