The Research Group Environmental Microbiology specializes in studying microorganisms within their natural environments, focusing on critical issues such as antibiotic resistance (AMR) through a One Health approach that integrates human, animal, and environmental health. This research group also investigates microbial ecology and trophic interactions among microorganisms, examining how microbial communities interact and impact ecosystem functions. Additionally, the group investigates microbial degradation and bioremediation processes to develop sustainable solutions for environmental pollution. They also analyze microbial kinetics to understand microbial growth, activity, and responses under various environmental conditions, contributing to advancements in environmental health and management.
